The Broadcast Cable Series,
From the Ground Up
is anticipating a new upcoming round of
architectural concepts for the Mountain Top
Site on which an energy self-reliant,
environmentally Friendly, Prototype Home
is to be constructed.
The approach will encompass the larger form
of lands, showing approach at the base of the
mountain to site, where currently well house,
well, and Grundfos Pump Controls are
located.
This View of the Well House, and Wood Storage House, was taken from the secondary access drive, showing the back side of the small shed constructed from recycled materials. The Main access drive gate is seen on the right.
Two roadways rise up the mountain, the main
access which leads to the mountain top,a
rising, north directional driveway from which can be sighted an Artist Studio created from recycled materials towards the east perched at the 3rd terrace level,
to a turn
where a 1500 gallon above ground, green
poly water tank is located near the western
property line, which follows near the access
road.
A second access drive, located at the base of
the mountain saddle where the main access
rises, leads easternly up to a landing site
located in the middle of the lowest of the 5,
100 foot long terraces which rise up the
south facing slope of the pyramidal shaped
mountain top form.

Located here are recycled materials of Tile,
Marble, Wood, Windows, which are being
incorporated into several out structures
being used for storage of thousands of
recycled books being saved from destruction
and landfills. These books will be moved up
into the walls of the Prototype Home, once it
is constructed.
Views of the Library Storage House can be seen from the base entrance gate to the lands through the forest of Oaks.
This location at the base of the pyramidal
mountain, has been thought of as a possible
site for creating a wood fired Kiln for
ceramics, with easy load in and out
capabilities, and supply of wood all around.
Heat rising from the Kiln can be used to
boost heat of water for the Recycled Hot
Tub, currently moved from the mountain top
where it stood on the current site of the
Octagonal Cement Slab, Radiant Heated,
Marble Mosaiced Floor/Foundation.
Recycled Hot Water Solar Panels - also moved
from the mountain top site,
will be utilized for the main source of heating
the hot tub.
From this location, also, a series of steps is
being formed in the center, leading upwards
to the ascending terraces, much like the steps
of the Mayan Pyramids, up to the Hot Tub
and outdoor bathing areas.
Back to following the Main driveway, past the
1,500 gallon water tank, which will serve as a
pumping station, utilizing another Grundfos
Solar Pump and Controls, the roadway turns
east as it ascends along the western facing
ridgeline of the lands.
Sculptural Body Forms, currently being laid
out on the mountain top to receive excess
cement from the Octagonal pouring, will be placed along the entrance drive.

A 30 foot radius landing site, located on the
north side of the drive is being considered
for placement of a composite or redwood
decking which will host a gazebo type
structure, or host a sample of portable
housing, a Yurt, prior to being more
permanently constructed. Spectacular views
to the sheer drop off of the northern face of
the mountain top can be enjoyed here, with
magnificent sunsets.

Geologically, the north side of the mountain
top is covered with tall Douglas Firs, and
Redwoods, a ancient landslide 1000 years
ago sharpened the drop, with mostly stable
sandstone base core of the mountain
remaining. The previous, Hud Awarded,
Energy Efficient home which was lost to fire,
had been constructed around 10 feet from
the Northern Slope, being considered stable
enough to allow such.

These Structures can be removed, replaced, or restructured.
Continuing along the drive, as it rises
eastwards, another landing site on the south
side of the roadway allows supplies to be
dropped off for accessing the top two south
facing garden terraces, around 10 foot wide
and 100 feet or more long. Marble and wood
is also stored here.
Native Plants of the area, filmed in previous
segments, have been planted along the
terraces, with the most notable successes
among the sages, deer tolerant, and self-
reliant.
Priority is being given to useful plants, herbs,
and foods.
Rosemary and Lavenders have also been
thriving,
and each year cuttings are planted which
extend the farming of the same, lining the
driveway with their beautiful blue and
lavender blossoms, all self-reliant.

The original hot water panels face south just
below where the Octagonal Slab is located.
These may be moved to the topmost terrace
to allow the artist creation of a composite
deck that will be extending outwards from
the Octagon on its southmost side, where
cement pavers are not practical - allowing
for the enjoyment of the spectacular
southern and western views.

As the driveway enters the top of the mountain
top site, an oak tree on the southeast corner,
provides shade and a sitting area, or
turnaround for small vehicles.
The eastern side of the mountain is currently
planted with Rosemary, and of gentle enough
slope to be considered for garage or
structure, bermed into the mountain side.
Spectacular views are afforded in all directions
on the mountain top.
The previous home's bedrooms and kitchen
areas faced the eastern sunrise with
balconies and large glass sliding doors that
invited the outdoors in.
Marble of Sandstone and golds are being favored for the East
Viewing the mountain top from the driveway
entrance, where currently recycled bricks
and pavers line the northeastern corner,
where a field tent/office is set up, along with
a trampoline, currently serving as a water
catch during the winter rains.
The center of the mountain top has been laid
out with the black and green marble to be
inserted into the Octagonal Cement Slab,
colors of marble chosen for the heated slab
where portable housing of a yurt will be next
set up, to demonstrate portable housing and
systems, later to be partially enclosed as a
indoor/outdoor water and bathing area,
where the hot tub and outdoor showers will
be solar heated.
Marble of Green, Black, and White hues are being selected for the Octagon Slab.
The Northern Side of the Site is currently occupied with the Trampoline and Body Forms waiting to be cement filled.
The western part of the mountain top is
currently being used to lay out the various
patterns and colors of recycled marble , and
the body form molds.
The West faces the glorious sunsets where all
evening living is focused towards. Living
Room and Fireplace in the original home
faced to the West.
If potential lap pools of rainwater collection
were constructed, the western placement
would take advantage of solar heating panels
which could be placed on the somewhat
gentle slopes facing south and west to warm,
and the general shift of activity and focus to
follow the setting sun.
A small shelter for the generator which
originally served as diesel power to pump the
water from the well up to the rooftop holding
tanks is located midway down the ridgeline
on the west.
Looking back at the Octagonal Pad from the
western point reveals several trees which are
in the process of being trimmed and removed
to open up the winter sun and view.
